The Kingfisher has a thick and long beak, round fat body, short tail and feet. They are common habitant birds. The feathers on the head and wings are dark green with a glistening hue and dense blue spots. The back feathers are blue and also burnished in hue. The feathers near the eye to the ear are orange-red. White spots cover the front and back. The belly is bright orange. The feet are red, and the beak of the male bird is black.
Kingfishers live in low altitude areas close to the ground surface and in wet areas like streams, ponds and fish pools. They are excellent fishers, often flying low and quickly across water surfaces.
