The Black-headed Oriole has a bright yellow body, pink beak, bright red iris, with a thick and long black line across the eye all the way to the back of the head, forming a circle; the wing feathers are black at the inside; outside feathers are bright yellow at the edge, the tail feathers are black, and the feet are lead blue.
Black-headed Orioles are a rare and protected bird species. They are winter migratory birds that are not commonly seen and rarely stay in Taiwan. Individual birds have been recorded to have spent the winter in Tamsun, Yehliu, Chinshan in the North and Kenting in the South. There are only a few spots where they have been recorded to appear throughout the year and reproduced. Currently there have been movement records in the area from Tamsun Golf Course to Shalun. They are the most beautiful birds in the Tamsun area.
