They mostly appear in large numbers at the shoals, river mouth, or dry farmland near the seashore in central and southern Taiwan. The reproduction period of the Little Ringed Plover is in June and July. The reproduction process is extremely difficult. They basically do not have nests. They lay 2-4 white eggs with brown spots on dry sand lands. The male and female bird will take turns to incubate. Due to the huge day and night temperature difference, the parents need to keep the egg warm at night. In the daytime the dry sand lands can be extremely hot. The parents need to wet their bellies and cover the eggs to keep them from the sun and to reduce temperature. After about 24 days the infant bird will break the shell, the whole process of shell breaking takes about 2-4 hours.
Little Ringed Plovers are uncommon habitant birds in Taiwan. The first recorded reproduction occurred in the Tamsui area.
